The Best Wine Estates in Plettenberg Bay
Whether shared or paired, a good wine brings out that extra flair in everyone!
With October being Pinotage month, we decided to dedicate this month to exploring the Plettenberg Bay Winelands. The Plett Winelands region is acknowledged as one of South Africa’s ‘Wine of Origin’ areas, and is also one of the smallest, stretching under 60kms and with just 18 picturesque vineyards in the surrounds.
The wine coming out of this region is truly fantastic, and not to be missed if you’re in the area.
Most Wine Estates offer wine tasting, cellar door prices and delicious meals if you feel like enjoying a long, languid lunch amidst the vines. Call ahead to make a booking to avoid disappointment, and be sure to leave extra space in the boot to take some extra bottles home.
Here are our 6 favourite picks:
1. Bramon Wine Estate
Bramon Wine Estate is a family-owned boutique vineyard known for being the first to break ground in the Plett region. Sauvignon Blanc were their first vines planted back in 2000. Bramon has since paved the way for the high-quality wine produced in the area. Expect to be captivated by the views overlooking the Tsitsikamma Mountains and their vines from their restaurant, while indulging in their astounding collection of wines and fresh tapas-style dishes.
