Hiking:
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just enjoy a good walk in nature, Plettenberg Bay has some incredible trails with stunning views and plenty of fresh air.
  • Robberg Hiking Trail: Located in the Robberg Nature Reserve, this trail is one of Plett’s most iconic experiences. With three routes to choose from, you can keep it simple with the 2.1 km Gap Circuit, go moderate with the 5.5 km Witsand Circuit, or challenge yourself with the 9.2 km Point Circuit. On any of these trails, you’ll be able to spot seals, birds and breathtaking ocean views.
  • Perdekop Hiking Trail: For something different, this 9 km forest trail in the Harkerville area offers a peaceful escape among towering trees and greenery with beautiful spots for a picnic along the way.
  • Kranshoek Coastal Trail: For a mix of forest and coastline, this 9 km trail offers dramatic cliffs and ocean views. It’s more challenging but perfect for experienced hikers.

Insider Tip: Always pack water, snacks, sunscreen and comfy shoes. Don’t forget to check the weather before heading out!

Golf
Golfing in Plett is all about combining a great game with spectacular scenery.
  • Plettenberg Bay Country Club: This 18-hole parklands course is set inside a private nature reserve. The fairways are lush, the greens are well-maintained, and you might even spot wildlife like bushbuck while playing. It’s perfect for golfers of all skill levels.
  • Goose Valley Golf Club: Designed by Gary Player, this course offers beautiful views of the Keurbooms Lagoon and Tsitsikamma Mountains. It’s beginner-friendly and fun for players of all levels and offers enough challenges to keep experienced golfers entertained.
  • Simola Golf Course (nearby): While not in Plett itself, this course in Knysna is worth the 40-minute drive. It’s a Jack Nicklaus signature course with jaw-dropping views of the Knysna Lagoon.

Insider Tip: Book your tee times early, especially in peak holiday seasons, to secure your spot.

Horse Riding
We’re convinced that there’s no better way to experience Plett’s natural beauty than on horseback. Whether you’re riding through forests, along the beach or over rolling hills, it’s an unforgettable experience.
  • Cairnbrogie Horse Trails: This is a fantastic option for beginners and experienced riders on Boschrivier Farm. Their trails take you through fynbos fields, scenic forest paths and open spaces with mountain views.
  • Equitrailing in Plett: If you’re looking for coastal trails with breathtaking sea views, this is the spot. They cater to all levels, making it ideal for families or groups.
  • Hog Hollow Horse Trails: Located in The Crags, these trails offer rides through indigenous forests and fynbos, with options for all riding abilities. They also provide pony rides for children and can arrange wine tasting on horseback.

Canyoning

If you’re up for a bit of an adrenaline rush, canyoning is an absolute must. It’s all about exploring waterfalls, natural rock pools and hidden valleys in the most adventurous way possible.
